StrideLink, a new shoelace-sized wearable device created by Georgia Tech College of Engineering students, has the potential to advance standard physical therapy practices.

A team of fourth-year computer science students from the Georgia Institute of Technology took home first place at CREATE-X’s fall 2021 Idea to Prototype (I2P) Showcase, held Dec. 6 in the Marcus Nanotechnology Building atrium.

Siva Sivakumar and Natalie Stingelin receive highest professional distinction for academic inventors

Raghupathy “Siva” Sivakumar is among the 164 renowned academic inventors named as Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). 

His talk was titled, “Enabling student ownership of making, invention, and entrepreneurship.”

On the episode titled “A Materials World – Hacks & Gizmos with Neil deGrasse Tyson and Jud Ready,” Tyson and co-hosts speak with Dr. Jud Ready about some of his students’ inventions including the LZRD sleeve.

During the virtual event, student teams worked rapidly and collaboratively to propose one or more applications for Georgia Tech research patents and produce five-minute videos about the applications.

The event will take place on Monday, December 6 in the Marcus Nanotechnology Building atrium from 5 to 7 p.m.

Georgia Tech is committed to putting research into action. In fiscal year 2021, the Institute brought in $1.2 billion in new grants and contracts for research and other sponsored activities. Of this amount, $781 million was granted to GTRI.
